You’re not brown, just tan reduces my cultural memories to icons. These icons are transformed into hybrid objects where the form is Iranian and the material is taken from my youth in suburban America (BackgamMonopoly, UpholsteRug). With a television at the center of the installation space screening a series of "shows" I created in different TV styles- cooking show, music video in which I sing the only five words of Farsi I know, and movie trailer- I also utilize the medium that shaped my identity to disseminate my hybrid set of cultural cues to the viewer.
