Created by sisters Amy Khoshbin and Jennifer Khoshbin, Sun Seekers is a sci-fi narrative that imagines and embodies an alternate soft somatic world, responding to our experience of indoor on-screen life (the Wreck-Tangle World). Drawing from the Khoshbin’s experiences of being tethered to digital devices, particularly during the pandemic, and their research of Iranian sun worship practices inspired by their heritage, the Sun Seekers’ world interweaves performance, mythology, and immersive environments to provide opportunities for healing and reconnecting with the sun, our bodies, and each other.
SUN SEEKERS INDUCTION
The Sun Seekers Induction is an hour-long participatory performance led by Amy Khoshbin, co-written with Yuliya Tsukerman and choreographed by Danielle Russo. This performance leads the audience through the Sun Seekers world and collective somatic actions featuring dancers Mercedes Searer, Ching-I Chang, Eshe All Day Hues, and musicians Alex Koi and Jon Panikkar. Art Objects, set and costumes created by Amy + Jen Khoshbin.
In 2022 this was performed for River-to River Festival at The Arts Center on Governors Island, the World Trade Center Oculus & Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Take Care Series.
