Tinyscissors Tattoo Parlor is part of my "What is the Opposite of a Weapon?" project. I ask this question to people at gun shows and across the country and their answers have manifested in a series of drawings I’ve transformed into tattoo flash. Using intimate and violent mark-making techniques to permanently draw this non-violent imagery on the body, I inscribe intentions of non-violence that persist throughout the client’s life. I engage parlor visitors in conversations about gun violence in America, and the ways we can heal together moving forward, literally and figuratively, while they acquire a tattoo. Tinyscissors Tattoo Parlor is an intimate setting in which to discuss and envision how we can shift culture towards compassion.

Tinyscissors Tattoo Parlor is an immersive installation in a hotel room, a site-specific engagement with the longstanding tradition of tattoo artists temporarily setting up shop in hotels during their travels. One section of the room is hygienically set up as a tattoo parlor. The bedroom area is installed with custom bedding, original soft sculpture, ceramics, framed drawings, limited-edition prints, and merchandise available for purchase.
