political intimacy
HD Video + Installation, 2021-22
Commissioned by the Fine Arts Pratt Civic Engagement Fellowship and Recess. Exhibited at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, Recess, and Art in Odd Places.
Initiated by artist and former Pratt Fine Arts Civic Engagement Fellow Amy Khoshbin, Political Intimacy demystifies and humanizes the process of running for local office via multiple pathways including a series of video interviews, a curriculum, and a body of collaborative artwork with local political candidates and representatives, Pratt Institute students, and Recess: Assembly participants (formerly incarcerated and court-aligned youth). Political Intimacy aims to empower and inspire youth to push for radical change in our electoral system from the ground up through civic deliberation, collaborative experiential learning, media and artmaking, and creative action from running for office to getting involved with local campaigns.
